Competence Centre Mining and Mineral Resources West Africa

Mining is a major economic activity in the West African region and serves as a pillar for development in many countries. With its vast and largely underdeveloped mineral resource potential, West Africa holds opportunities for German companies engaged in the entire spectrum of mining and mineral resources.

We support the implementation of the Federal Government’s Raw Material Strategy and work in close cooperation with the German Raw Materials Agency (DERA). We contribute to secure and diversify the German mineral resource supply and support German mining suppliers and service providers establishing and growing their businesses in Ghana and the West African region. The Competence Centre aims to be the central point of contact for German companies in West Africa and serves the following objectives: Creating market transparency, supporting cooperation and communication, providing services and promoting German technologies.

Our services include:

  1. Tailor-made market analysis and sector information on the mining sector West Africa
  2. Private and public stakeholder dialogue with up-to-date information on sector initiatives
  3. Support in assessing and identifying potential business partners and clients
  4. Fact-finding missions and delegation trips from Germany to West Africa and vice versa
  5. Facilitation of capacity building workshops, seminars, stakeholder conferences and B2B meetings
